umm. hi.
sometimes i browse social networking sites and think about how weird they are. i think i could probably do 12 dissertations on facebook alone. but i won't.
sometimes i think about what it means to be a friend (and to have friends).
sometimes i get strangely introspective. yet other times i just sit around and play video games all day and turn my mind so far off that i can barely recall what i've done in the game i just romanced for 8 straight hours.
occasionally i feel like i can do absolutely anything if i'll get unlazy enough to just do it. other times, i think that everything i say comes out wrong.
i'm feeling both very social and equally as shut-out and lonery.
i just skimmed my last few LJ posts spanning the most recent 3-4 years (so like 2 posts). it's funny how i've changed since writing that drivel. i bet i'll think the same thing about this post in another 3-4 years (or perhaps tomorrow when i wake up).
usually when i write something, i reread it 5+ times and wordsmith it to hell. i've only reread this once. hmm.
bee tee double you, i got married last weekend. i mention this because i'll wonder why i didn't mention it when i reread this post again in the future. i'm currently of the mind that a livejournal is no place for me to bring up things that actually matter, but that's a pretty important detail that probably shouldn't be omitted :)

| So it's been a while. . . what of it? |
[08 Jun 2007|01:02am] |
My last few weeks have consisted of primarily 2 things:
1)
looking forward to each episode of Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! on Sunday night (only the best show ever. reasons cited: http://www.adultswim.com/video/?episodeID=31a0509e9b9db51aaa2092a13d100fb0 and http://www.adultswim.com/video/?episodeID=b302da10ab0911f65993a105b0f520ba and http://www.adultswim.com/video/?episodeID=b302da10ab0911f65993a105b0f520ba . click the pink "back to browse video" button then the comedy tab and, finally, tim and eric awesome show great job! to watch the rest of its wonderfulness. I recommend the everything )
PS - Fux to Kevin for not liking Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!
and 2)
watching veronica mars. it's only the best show everrrrrrrrrrrrr, and I got the first 2 seasons on the cheap.
also, I have way too many books that I need to read that I haven't yet but should have already. yet have not.
also also, I have way too many games that I need to play.
hrm hrm hrm, I see Spamalot this weekend weeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
and I go on a cruise of the Caribbean in October. That's exciting.
and Quakecon in August!
also, starcraft II. I need it now.
Work is cool, but I have tomorrow off. I also took some time off in October and August, obviously. I'm gonna get my Birthday off :) and I shall spend it doing stuff that (most) people don't do at work... most likely play video games all day. But we'll see how that goes. I've got a ways to go yet.

| 2 recent acquisitions in my life that make things swell |
[01 Oct 2006|06:41pm] |

and while she may not be a recent acquisition, she is hiding in the box from a recent acquisition (but not either of the aforementioned ones):

Also, Tara made me breakfast today! Yumtastic! But then I ate it and didn't have it anymore T_T But its memory shall live on!
|
|
| random real update because tara is so sweet :D |
[10 Sep 2006|03:31am] |
weeeeeeeeee! Tara threw me the beeeeeeestest surprise graduation party ever! :D :D :D when I came in there was way more people at tara's place than i was expecting, and they all said SURPRISE! and i just stood there going "..." cuz i was very confused. actually, i didn't hear anybody say surprise. one person said "cucumber melon" instead of surprise and that was all that i heard, which i'm sure added a lot to my confusion.
she secretly called up our joint friends and my friends and invited them all yay! i must say, i was rather confused when one of my friends called tara's phone. he called when we were just waking up, so i looked at her phone and it said jason... and i spent the longest time in a sleepy daze trying to figure out if i was holding tara's phone or mine. it didn't make any sense for him to be calling tara. by the time i finally figured out it was her phone, it had stopped ringing. i sort of forgot about it and went back to sleep :P
buuuuuuuuuut tara and angela spent a bunch of time getting decorations and making delicious 7 layer dip! yum! and tara made a cool graduation cap out of FOAAAAMMMM that said "Mr. AMD" and had an orange longhorn on the top <333
and tara gave me a super cool picture frame with our picture (heart heart) for my desk at work and like 80 bajillion board/card games (including a board game that i've been eyeing for a while AND the penny arcade card game YAY). aaaaaaaand she ordered me an alarm clock that looks like an NES controller and plays the mario bros. theme song :D :D :D :D :D :D it comes in the mail on Monday, and I can't waittttitititittttt to get it!
also, prem was super awesome enough to get me COBRAS IN THE COCKPIT ( http://www.cobrasinthecockpit.com/ ). For those of you unfamiliar with the game, it's a parody of the popular summer blockbuster SNAKES ON A PLANE (best movie ever, btw). It was actually an indie board game made and produced by one of the guys from a web forum I read and one of his friends. I was going to wait until I started getting paychecks to buy it (I almost bought it one night, but decided to hold out) but now it is miiiiiiiine YAY. That was ever so nice of prem! thank you! we shall have to have a cobras in the cockpit gathering in the very very very near future. also, he used a usb cable instead of ribbon in wrapping the package. this made me lol.
i was also informed that prem provided the CHAMPAGNE for my awesome party, so thanks again!
and of course, a billion and twenty thanks to TARA <333 for my awesome party and angela for helping her throw it downnnn and everybody else for coming too!
also:
SNAKES on a PLANE just MIGHT be the best motion picture ever MADE
that is all. goodbye, fair people!

Last week my sister went to a video game concert, in which an orchestra played video game music while the songs' games of origin played on a big projection screen and it was generally merry and fun (or so I hear). They had some random contests and video gamey events, one of which was a costume contest. The costumes must be of video game characters, and the best costume wins a prize yadda yadda. Of course, my sister being an ARTISTE, she was very interested in the costume contest. She decided on a rather obscure character from a not-overly-well-known game--
A.B.A from Guilty Gear Isuka:

She actually made the giant key weapon and all the other accoutrement. It came out pretty damned badass, if you ask me:

Unfortunately, the contest was basically a popularity contest and did not fully take into consideration the effort, creativity, and actual quality of the designs. A panel of judges chose the top 4 costumes, and then the winner was selected by the relative volume of the crowd's applause. How very quantitative T_T Anyway, a picture of all the entrants follows behind the cut. I didn't want to just slap it on here, as it's a huge picture and would screw the horizontal scroll on your friends lists:
( Entrants! )
The top 4 contained: Pong (cute and deserving IMO), Baby Mario (wtf...), one of the girls from Kingdom Hearts, and a dirty and emo-ish looking Link.
Granted, the picture behind the cut isn't the BEST quality so it's kinda hard to tell just how awesome some of the costumes were or were not, but I think Tess should have definitely been in the top 4, if not the winner. I say that completely objectively, not taking into consideration the fact that she's my sister at all. Of course, Link is going to win because all the geekwads cheering are gonna shout for the most popular character T_T I have to admit, though, his costume does look pretty sweet from afar.
I'd also like to make note of the fact that the Alucard costume is pretty awesome.
So that's fun.

For anybody who's unaware: Bill Gates has announced he will be retiring in 2008 and devoting himself full-time to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (the largest and wealthiest philanthropic organization in the world). This is an incredible act and I applaud Bill Gates for his decision.

Kudos to this guy, too. Perhaps there is some hope for mankind. Next up: the 3rd, 4th, and 5th richest?

http://www.genpets.com/index.php This is the most terrifying, cruel thing I have ever seen. I hate the human race for using science in this way.
EDIT: it has come to my attention that this is fake. All I have to say to that is-- I'm gullible. Bite me!
allow me to redeem myself with a picture of something cool:

Gimme a few months and I'll be posting a picture of my copy.

The other day in class my prof was, in all seriousness, explaining the difference between a "loop" and a "loopty-loop" as it applied to an actual engineering problem. I wanted to raise my hand and ask what to do if we encounter a floopity flop or a whoopsy doo, but his sense of humor is negligible; I don't think he would have appreciated it.
------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't be surprised if I've topped 30 views of the video in my previous entry, by the way. I've spent probably close to TWO HOURS watching a 3 minute video clip. To be honest, I'd feel fulfilled if my lot in life was to watch this video non-stop until I retire.

first a cute picture:
Cat on a box. She likes that box a lot. It is her throne.
now a not cute picture:
Right outside my door. I killed each and every one of the bastards. I count 7 carcasses. That's right. 7 vs 1, and I came out victorious. I await my medal.

This is insane.
That having been said, why must the gauges and stereo inside the Civic Si glow red? :( I far prefer the blue glowies on the Civic EX, but I also far prefer the many vroomies on the Si.
I'd also like to know why an in-dash CD changer isn't available for the Civic at all. THANKS, HONDA.

Yay for graduation. And yay for witnessing a hit and run accident on UT campus. And haha to the car that was hit apparently belonging to the daughter of the president of the University. Calling the cops on the person was funny. Sucks to be the idiot that screeched off after backing into the car.
And while standing around with the president's wife waiting for the cops to show up, I got a spider bite on my foot. It is really sore and puffy. Isn't karma supposed to work the other way?

You know what would be incredible (and entirely feasible)? If the Wii shipped with Super Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt preloaded on the flash memory :D
